Zhenhaikou Coastal Defense Relics
Zhenhaikou Coastal Defense Relics, also called "the Door of East Zhejiang" and "the Magnificent Town between the Sky and the Sea", lies on the exit of the Yongjiang River of Ningbo. Being a part of the Zhaobao Mountain Scenic Site, it is a strategically important area hard to access, and a place, which all strategists wanted to control; therefore, it was a major defense base of the southeast coast of China in history. Being one of the major battlefields in the Anti-Japanese and Anti-British wars, a castle built on the mountain by the name of " Weiyuan Castle ", contains a lot of well preserved coastal defense relics which are large in scale and rich in type. It is one of the major historical and cultural sites under the state protection and one of the state patriotism education bases. President Jiang Zemin, the General Secretary of CPC, inscribed the name for the Historical Memorial of the Zhenhaikou Coastal Defense newly built on the Zhenhaikou Coastal Defense Relics.
